Letter to Parents
Week of November 16, 2020
Dear Canty Families:
Welcome back Ms. Puckett! Ms. Puckett, Assistant Principal, returns from leave today. We are very excited to have her back at Canty. The Canty Community is thankful for the support from Ms. Kotz during this time. We wish you well in the future!
Parent Teacher Conferences - Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Wednesday, November 18th. You received communication via email from teachers about signing up for conferences. Please reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions. We hope to “see” all of our families this week. Reports Cards are being mailed home, but you will most likely not have them in time for conferences. Aspen Parent Portal would be the best way to check grades prior to conferences. If you have EVER set up an account, your username is your entire email address. Click on Reset Password first if you are having trouble logging in. If you need additional support please contact Kamil Szpara at kszpara@cps.edu
LSC Elections- LSC elections are in full swing. Please mail back your ballot OR bring it to the school on or before November 18th. Mail in ballots MUST be post-marked November 18th or earlier to be accepted. You MUST write your name and address on the return envelope for it to be counted. On November 18th you can come to Canty to vote at the Gym door (2). You will need to complete a health screener and temperature check prior to entering the school. Everyone must wear a mask and remain socially distant. You have the option for drive through voting. If you choose this option you will need to call the Canty Main Office: 773-534-1238. Please be patient throughout this process.
CPS Children and Family Benefits Unit (CBFU) - CBFU connects CPS families to public benefits such as SNAP (food stamps) and free and low cost health insurance (Medicaid). Along with application assistance, provided by community partners, CBFU also helps families renew and manage their public benefit cases by ensuring that applications are successfully completed and submitted to the Illinois Department of Human Services. For any questions or concerns, please give us a call at 773-553-KIDS (5437) or fill out this form to request SNAP and Medicaid assistance. Click HERE for more information.
