Letter to Parents
Week of October 26, 2020
Dear Canty Families:
As we finish the final week of October, we hope to see many of you on Friday at the Halloween Trick or Treat Walk! Please follow all health guidelines and schedule to ensure we can keep all of us safe and healthy. All students will begin the 2nd quarter learning from home. The district is hopeful to transition Pre-k students back to school at some point during the second quarter. All decisions about when and how to reopen schools are made by Chicago Public Schools Central Office in conjunction with the City of Chicago and Public Health Officials. Tomorrow night at the October LSC meeting I will be reviewing the district plan for pre-k.
Thank you so much for wanting to help your students with their assignments. However it is extremely important that the students do their own work so teachers know what they can do and not do. It is ok if they do not perfectly complete assignments. Students' responses which are their own work helps teachers to plan more effectively and know when students are ready to move on or need to be retaught.
Friends of Canty Trick or Treat Walk
Friends of Canty is hosting a Trick or Treat Walk! Come see your teachers and grab some treats on Friday, October 30th from 3:10pm-4:30pm. To ensure this is a fun and safe event it must adhere to all health and safety guidelines, masks must be worn, remain socially distant from those outside your immediate family or household. If you or ANYONE in your household has any symptoms of Covid-19, has tested positive for Covid-19 in past 14 days or been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 14 days DO NOT attend this optional event.
Teachers will be organized by grade level band on Panama Ave. This is an optional event.

Required School Forms
Thank you to the 80% of families who uploaded and/or dropped off their emergency, media, income and health forms. We must receive new forms every year. These forms were due September 11th. Canty likes to pride ourselves with 100% participation in Network 1. If you do not want to put personal information on the income form, please write the students' names on the form, sign the form, write refused across it and return it to school. Each form returned is vital funding for Canty. You can upload your completed forms on-line here! These forms are required for EACH Canty student. These forms are all located in the electronic form, in the packet handed out at material pick up or can be picked from Canty. If you are having difficulty please call the school office or email Mrs. Swan at cadunleavyswan@cps.edu or Ms. Kotz alkotz@cps.edu
CPS Calendar Change
No School on November 3rd. Classes in Session on November 11th.

The Chicago Board of Education approved of the calendar change during the August Board meeting.
