Letter to Parents
Week of May 11, 2020
Dear Canty Families:
Thank you for sharing your photos and videos appreciating our teachers! While we were unable to appreciate teachers in person, we hope they felt the support and appreciation from our community for the amazing work they are doing every day! Click HERE to view the teacher appreciation surprise!
We stay committed to partnering with you to:
● Ensure a community of care for all students, families, and staff members.
● Create a remote learning environment that carefully nourishes students’ academic and social-emotional learning needs while not overwhelming the resources of families and staff.
● Provide targeted supports for students and families that have the greatest need.
Please see below for important updates this week.

Kindergarten Registration and Enrollment
Kindergarten Registration/Enrollment will take place virtually this year. Please complete this form with all required documents uploaded to enroll. If you are unable to print the 4 pages of the Registration/Enrollment paperwork, copies can be picked up Monday-Friday between 8:30am-2:30pm from a table outside the main door on Panama. Please take only one packet per student from the table. There will not be anyone available at school to receive any documents or make any copies.
Student Engagement - Google Meets/Assignments
Please remind your child that in order to fully engage in academics, he/she must contribute responses (verbally or in chat) during live google meets and should submit all assignments.
CPS Summer School
Students who are not completing a majority of assignments are at risk for receiving an incomplete and being required to attend remote summer school. ALL students who receive an incomplete will be prioritized for summer school, regardless of grade level. More information from CPS is forthcoming.
CPS Grading and Promotion Communication
CPS is recommending the Board of Education approve a modification to the promotion policy that will advance elementary students to the next grade level in the fall. Student fourth quarter grades and final grades will be based on the criteria below. More information is available on the CPS Remote Learning Grading Guide for Parents and Families.
