Remaining Opportunities for 2019-20 High School Programs
Neighborhood School
All Chicago students are guaranteed a seat in the general education program of the neighborhood school assigned to the home address of their primary parent/guardian.
Round 1 Offers
The deadline to accept a Round 1 offer was April 12, 2019. All offers not accepted by that date were automatically declined and are no longer available.
Round 1 Waitlists
The Round 1 waitlist period opened on April 22, 2019, for Choice Programs only. (Selective Enrollment schools do not have waitlists.) If a waitlist offer becomes available, the school will contact the family to notify them and they will have 48 business hours to accept or decline. It is possible to receive a Round 1 waitlist offer until February 2020.
Principal Decision
The Principal Discretion application period for Selective Enrollment High Schools closed on April 19, 2019. Notification letters will be sent the week of June 3, 2019, to all applicants whose application packages were received before the deadline.
Round 2 Offers
For families that elected to participate in the Round 2 process, results will be released on May 31, 2019. You will have until June 7, 2019, to accept or decline a Round 2 offer. If you accepted a Round 1 offer and you receive a Round 2 offer, your Round 1 offer will automatically be forfeited. However, if you do not receive a Round 2 offer, your Round 1 acceptance will still be valid.
Round 2 Waitlists
Students will be automatically waitlisted for Round 2 programs where they are eligible and that they ranked higher than the one from which they received an offer. The Round 2 waitlist process will open on June 12, 2019. If a waitlist offer becomes available, the school will contact the family to notify them and they will have 48 business hours to accept or decline. It is possible to receive a Round 2 waitlist offer until February 2020.
Transfer Process
The last opportunity for students to choose a different high school program is through the transfer process. Students can transfer high schools between July 1 and the 20th day of each school year, or during designated transfer windows at the end of each quarter. In order to transfer, students will need to contact the school(s) in which they are interested and follow the admissions requirements for those schools. Schools cannot accept transfers until they have exhausted their waitlists. Information regarding programs with available seats will be posted on the GoCPS website starting July 1st.
